Made many improvements to the TotalFinder diagnostics utility (diagnose-totalfinder.sh) that improve the usefulness of its output. The newly-added Tweakable flag ~/.totalfinder-disablelabelcolourlookupoptimisation disables all Coloured Labels lookup optimisations, which may be useful as a troubleshooting or debugging step. The newly-added Tweakable flag ~/.totalfinder-alwaysenablenewlabellookupmethods enables the new Coloured Labels lookup logic on macOS 12 Monterey and below, which normally use a different label colour lookup method that no longer works as of macOS 13 Ventura. newCertain behaviour flags that were used during the testing of the new Coloured Labels logic are now controllable via TotalFinder's power-user-oriented "Tweakables" feature, which you can use by creating specific files in your home directory (~, or $) using the command-line utility touch. Major internal refactors were made to the Coloured Labels feature, resulting in better optimisation of label colour lookup operations. a rendering issue where the TotalFinder icon in the Finder preferences on macOS 11 Big Sur and newer was unable to be tinted by the user's macOS UI tint colour when selected. a rendering issue where the TotalFinder icon in the Finder preferences on macOS 11 Big Sur and newer would render with aliasing artifacts, especially on non-Retina/HiDPI displays where the issue was very severe. an issue where the new Coloured Labels logic would use the oldest label colour found on an item with multiple labels, instead of the newest. an issue where the new Coloured Labels logic would be unable to obtain the label colour of certain items that have coloured label information stored in a slightly different way than what was thought to be possible during testing. (※ Please note that this issue has nothing to do with the UEFI bootloader named OpenCore - TotalFinder has never had any known compatibility issues with the OpenCore UEFI bootloader.) Ventura Monterey Big Sur Catalina For Internet browser fanatics: Path Finder is like Opera, TotalFinder is like Google Chrome.- a code injection issue where TotalFinder would fail to successfully inject on certain legacy / unsupported systems that were patched using OpenCore Legacy Patcher / OCLP. Although not as fully featured as Path Finder, it's much better integrated with OS X and just feels like an integral part of your Mac. Although XtraFinder is a very good free alternative, I kept coming back to TotalFinder. In my quest for the perfect Finder replacement or companion, I've tried a few. You're welcome to wait, but we definitely won't. Perhaps, in five more years, this is what Finder will look like. These third-party tools make Finder feel modern and spritely, with many features you've been aching for, and some you didn't even know you wanted. Apple plans to bridge the gap with Mac OS X Mavericks, but that's still some time away.Įven after Mavericks hits the shelves, you'll get more bang for your buck by replacing Finder with software like TotalFinder or XtraFinder. It's a great application at its core, which makes it all the more painful that it hasn't been keeping up with the competition. What is surprising, is how outdated this part of Mac OS X really is.įinder looks the part and has some great ( and often hidden) features. Finder, the official Mac OS X file browser, is likely one of the most used applications on your computer.

Check the pressure while filling – If the tires are running low to flat, it may take several minutes to pump each of your tires.Usually, the outer perimeter has air dispensers with or without a coin slot. Search for places to put air in tires near me – places like gas stations, convenience and corner stores, grocery stores, tire stores, and related. It can get the job done, but it will take longer and will give you some exercise pumping. An alternative to an automatic air compressor is to use a bike pump to inflate car tires. Find an air inflator for car tires – the easiest way to regularly put more air in your tire is by owning or borrowing an automatic air compressor. It’s recommended to check your tire pressure early in the morning when it’s cool, and the sun hasn’t started shining and heating the rubber. Only measure when the tires are cold or “room temperature.” The pressure gauge will not be accurate if the tires are warm to hot. Check the current pressure in your tires – check if the pressure matches the recommended psi per the manufacturer.Keep the pressure gauge in your glove box of the vehicle, so you always know where to find it. Buy a tire pressure gauge – They are available at most retail stores for $5 for a basic tire gauge to over $20 for a digital gauge with features.Determine how much air is required in each tire – most tires need 30-35 pounds per square inch for sedans and more for trucks. How to Fill Tires With Air at Gas Station With Air Compressor You should check your tire pressure monthly or more often during drastic changes in temperature. On the ending, Joy said, "I do think it's a happy ending for him. He has a warm smile on his face, but is still a man destined to live out his days trapped in his own memories.īut is that a happy ending? It’s a question we put to director Lisa Joy, who has positive feelings about the fates of both Nick and Watts. Watts, now with a granddaughter (confirming she reconnected with her estranged daughter), watches over Nick. Jump forward a few decades and we see what that means: Nick is in the memory tank, reliving his time with Mae over and over again. Instead of going to jail for putting Cyrus in a memory loop, he’s able to work out a deal to go to a prison of his own creation. Nick knows he’s on borrowed time – so makes the most of it. Hugh Jackman's lead is then faced with facing his own music. He can’t go through with shooting himself and ends up falling inconsolably into his mother’s arms. Nick gives the weaselly son a choice of killing himself or waiting for the authorities. Nick (as a fake Walter) reveals that he’s tipped the cops off to the location of Walter’s illegitimate son and that they know all about Sebastian’s scheme. He helps re-enact one the last memories she can still recall, that of the pair embracing in a clock shop, on an endless loop. Sebastian’s mom, Tamara, is coping with her failing memory, but only thanks to Sebastian hiring actors to play the role of Walter. Nick then confronts Sebastian in one of the movie’s weirdest scenes – which is saying something. In a cruel twist of fate, Cyrus is forced to relive his worst memory for the rest of his life: being set alight by Saint Joe’s goons. What happens to Nick?Īfter finding out the masterplan and all of the people he has made suffer, Nick ups the voltage on Cyrus in his memory machine and fries his brain. Unfortunately for Sebastian, Nick uncovers the plan thanks to tracking Cyrus down and putting him in the tank to relive his memories. While getting Watts drunk, Mae swooped in and took the (literal) memory card containing Elsa’s memories, as well as the proof that she slept with Walter, something that could then be destroyed along with Elsa. He succeeded after Mae learned that Nick’s ‘key’ to the lock was actually a tune he used to whistle. To do so, he hired Cyrus – who had originally been tasked with gaining Elsa’s memories. He was but a pawn in a larger game being played by the progeny of a wealthy Baron that would do anything to avoid slumming it in flooded Miami.Īfter discovering he had a half-brother who was liable to take a large amount of his inheritance after Walter’s death, Sebastian put the wheels in motion to kill both the boy and his mother, Elsa. How did Nick find Walter’s son?ĭespite Cyrus being the Big Bad of the piece on the face of things, his plan was actually hijacked by Sebastian. Ultimately, she is someone who was forced to double cross Nick after falling on hard times, but her true feelings for Hugh Jackman’s lead got in the way. So, who was Mae? Reminiscence paints her as several people: addict, Nick’s lover, and one of the movie’s minor antagonists. Knowing that her memory is a powerful tool in the wrong hands, she deliberately overdoses and throws herself off a balcony. She steals the son away from under Cyrus’ nose and whisks him off to an unknown location. Mae, though, shows her true colors – and has a change of heart. When Walter dies, Mae falls in league with Walter’s (legitimate) son Sebastian to help kill his half-brother. She's even hiding a dark secret: a son that only Walter knows about. Why? As it turns out, Elsa was the mistress of Walter, one of Miami’s infamous Barons. Not only is she a recovering addict who falls in with some seriously bad company in New Orleans, she has hatched a plan with rogue cop Cyrus to take the memories of Elsa from Nick’s vault. It’s clear, however, that individual teams may slowly be losing that flexibility as Apple looks for ways to cut costs (read: firing). Certain teams might require in-person work five days per week, while other teams can theoretically be more lenient on requiring in-person work three days per week. Depending on your position and manager approval, FSU employees have the ability to work remotely when the time calls. On June 2, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the company expected to see everyone back in their offices in early September, at which time employees must begin working in the office three days. Assisted in the deployment of tablet computers to mobilise on-site staff, increasing user. Individual Apple teams are still believed to have at least some autonomy in enforcing in-person work requirements. Maximise the benefit of IT system investments by implementing new systems and operational workflows. In January, Apple adjusted its policy for COVID-19 testing, dropping the requirement that employees be tested for COVID-19 before working in person. AppleInsider is hiring a Apple Product Review Editor / Contributing Editor in New York City - Apply now on Wellfound. As of last September, the policy requires in-person work at least three days per week. Apple employees claim the company is not budging on plans to institute a hybrid work model for corporate workers and is in some cases denying work-from-home exceptions, including one. Managers should consider how new and existing employees will be trained and if remote training can be done. The plan started with Apple requiring in-person work one day per week and gradually expanded to two days per week. Its policies changed on a regular basis in response to COVID-19 data, but almost a year ago it began a transitional “hybrid” return to in-person work. In that report, Gurman also pointed out that Apple is being more strict on enforcing in-person work requirements.Īpple, like most companies, shifted to remote work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Within some organizations at Apple, employees are being told that “failure to comply could result in termination,” though Schiffer clarified that this “doesn’t appear to be a company-wide policy.”īloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently reported in depth on some of the changes Apple has recently made in an effort to cut expenses. This was a huge U-turn from the companys former policy, which allowed them to work remotely up until 2023. In a post on Twitter, Schiffer explained that Apple is giving employees “escalating warnings” if they don’t meet the in-person work requirements. According to Platformer’s Zoë Schiffer, Apple is closely monitoring attendance via badge records to ensure employees are coming to the office at least three times per week. Apple employees would also have the option of working entirely remotely for up to two weeks each year, but that arrangement would have to be approved by managers. Apple is further cracking down on its in-person work requirements. Now I look forward to bringing this same approach to Momentum Worldwide as experiential trends accelerate post-pandemic and genuine innovation will be key.One of the great things about getting into video game emulation is that (1) you can play games in English that were never officially released in English, and (2) play your favorites games in a whole new way with ROM hacks. This included a mind-controlled immersive rave, an attention-seeking digital avatar with generative self-esteem and an interactive contemporary dance show where audience emotions informed the way the drama on stage unfolds.īeing able to learn from these experiences, and then share that knowledge when working with larger brands and institutions like the Venice Biennale, Twitch, Jägermeister or Puma, have all been huge achievements. Under the Aeon banner, we were able to work with emerging tech to develop new forms of storytelling for audiences of the future. Prior to joining Momentum Worldwide, I was running the immersive R&D studio at Aeon Industries. What is your most heroic personal achievement so far in digital? The ability for different blockchain ledgers to communicate with one another (like a ForEx for crypto) is another step toward making a functional, harmonious metaverse where innovations have practical, sustainable impacts rather than being speculative, risky next steps. This also goes for blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. From the start, we must focus on inter-operability and accessibility for anyone looking to set up shop in this realm. It cannot be two or three competing walled gardens as we have in the real world right now (Apple, Facebook or Google-take your pick!). We need to be mindful of the same pitfalls as we lean into the metaverse. We sleep-walked into a huge data surveillance trap when we optimistically signed up to Facebook over a decade ago, which has caused rifts in the stability of societies around the world as states try to retroactively impose safety measures for individuals interacting online. The big issues now are data surveillance and platform inter-operability in the metaverse. What the biggest challenges in digital we need another hero to solve? The spirit of modding, remixing, adapting and enhancing that is capable through emulation was an early echo of the kind of hybridity across digital culture that we now take for granted. It allowed an earlier generation of gaming fans to develop an interest in what it takes to make games in the first place. However, at a grassroots level, it also broke down the walls and pulled back the curtain on software creativity. The fact that today publishers like Nintendo and Sega themselves use emulators when they re-release old games is a practical outcome of the emulation scene that Near was a part of. How has their heroism helped drive digital? Near’s obsession with chip-level emulation of SNES hardware was, like all the other emulator fanatics out there, a personal project that ended up moving the entire gaming world forward. They also paved the way for a value that Gen Z now holds central: if you want to get something done, you figure out how to do it yourself. Near helped pave the way for this by establishing a need to preserve older games through highly accurate emulation on non-original hardware, elevating gaming’s overall status in the years before the current boom. Today we take it for granted that the history of gaming is available on-demand through services like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now. What did he do to win hero status in your eyes? These are the grassroots, open source, unsung heroes that work behind avatars in their smaller digital communities to build the kind of software foundations on which great organisations, movements and digital innovations go on to thrive. They lost their life earlier this year, but to me their work represented one of the most important spaces in the digital world. I’m going to dedicate this to the software developer known as Near, who was most famous for reverse-engineering the Super Nintendo and creating the emulator bsnes. Prior to joining Momentum Worldwide, Hoban founded Aeon Industries and held positions at agencies such as the Brooklyn Brothers, 72&sunny and R/GA, where he worked with clients such as Jaguar, Uber and Nike. Experiential advertising agency Momentum Worldwide appointed creative director, writer and cultural experience creator Alex Hoban as its first UK Creative Innovation Director. Let’s now move on to lines 5-9, the Pester part of the script. "$here\$sut" simply combines the two variables and dot sources the function into the PowerShell session. Which makes sense because 1 is the function we are going to run tests against. In programming sut means system under test. So if the path is /home/duffney/temp/1 it will just return the end of it 1 That output is then passed to the -replace operator and. The -Leaf parameter indicates the Split-Path cmdlet should only return the last item in the path. It uses the same path $MyInvocation.M圜ommand.Path, but it used a different parameter -Leaf. Moving on to $sut, it is being populated by this code (Split-Path -Leaf $MyInvocation.M圜ommand.Path) -replace '\.Tests\.', '.'. In this case since my 1 is located at /home/duffney/temp, so that’s what $here will be populated with. Which is a fancy way of getting the current path of the script being executed. $here is being populated by Split-Path -Parent $MyInvocation.M圜ommand.Path. Notice that it’s creating two variables $here and $sut. $sut = (Split-Path -Leaf $MyInvocation.M圜ommand.Path) -replace '\.Tests\.', '.' $here = Split-Path -Parent $MyInvocation.M圜ommand.Path It’s a really simple function, but that will make it easier to understand how to write pester tests for it. These two parameters are used to create a folder, create a file and set the content of the new file. The New-PesterLab function now accepts two parameters $Path and $Name. Next, open the New-PesterLab.ps1 update the code to what is shown below. Sidenote: You don’t have to use the New-Fixture cmdlet, if you already have a function file you can just create the 1 by hand, but it won’t have any pester syntax in it. The other reason is by default Pester will run all. Once reason for that recommendation is it’s easy to keep track of what tests go with what function or script file. It’s highly recommended you follow the naming scheme FunctionName|1. New-PesterLab.ps1 and 1, New-PesterLab.ps1 is the PowerShell script for the function I’ll write and 1 is the PowerShell script for the Pester test I’ll write. The current version is 4.0.5, at least at the time of writing this blog post.Īfter you run the command you’ll notice two new files. However, like all modules and software for that matter updates are released so you’ll want to grab the latest versions. If you’re running Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016, you already have a copy of the Pester PowerShell module. Why not learn Pester and have the computer do the testing for you as well? Installing Pester To put it in perspective a little, you probably learned PowerShell so that you could automate and have the computer do things for you. That’s called testing the code and is exactly what Pester can do for you. You might think to yourself well what’s the point of that? I already wrote my PowerShell function, all I need to do now is run it and see if it does what I want. But, really all you need to know about it before getting started, is that it’s a testing framework and it can be used to automate the testing of your PowerShell code. The sound pieces and songs featured on the album explore the complex sounds and dynamics of the lullaby, variously manifested as whispered chants, fast-paced dialogues, layered, contrapuntal vocal lines, spoken and sung, jazz riffs and ASMR soundscapes, and playful, childlike songs.Pester is a PowerShell behavior-driven development (BDD) style testing framework. The album is accompanied by a book of poems by Holly. The album is a multimedia collaborative work developed by Holly throughout her residency with Hubbub - an international team of scientists, historians, artists and broadcasters based at the Wellcome Collection - materialising Holly’s interest in speech rhythms and patterns which are responsive to work and rest. Her book, Go to reception and ask for Sara in red felt tip is a collection of ‘archive fanfiction’ (Book Works 2015) and her album Common Rest (Test Centre 2016) is a collection of collaborative lullabies and sound poems. Her portfolio is a fascinating and eclectic mix of writing, music, sound poetry and theory. Holly has featured in readings, performances and sound installations in New York and London, and has been published in Poetry Review, Poetry London and the Believer. We’re delighted to welcome her to our line-up at the festival this year. Poet, researcher, multidisciplinary writer and lecturer, Holly is fascinated by sound and performance. This year’s festival is all about connecting poets and celebrating multidisciplinary poetry practices and performances, so Holly Pester is a perfect headliner for us. This circumstance, if duly attended to, would furnish a lesson of moderation to those who are ever so much persuaded of their being in the right in any controversy. So numerous indeed and so powerful are the causes which serve to give a false bias to the judgment, that we, upon many occasions, see wise and good men on the wrong as well as on the right side of questions of the first magnitude to society. Candor will oblige us to admit that even such men may be actuated by upright intentions and it cannot be doubted that much of the opposition which has made its appearance, or may hereafter make its appearance, will spring from sources, blameless at least, if not respectable-the honest errors of minds led astray by preconceived jealousies and fears. I am well aware that it would be disingenuous to resolve indiscriminately the opposition of any set of men (merely because their situations might subject them to suspicion) into interested or ambitious views. It is not, however, my design to dwell upon observations of this nature. The plan offered to our deliberations affects too many particular interests, innovates upon too many local institutions, not to involve in its discussion a variety of objects foreign to its merits, and of views, passions and prejudices little favorable to the discovery of truth.Īmong the most formidable of the obstacles which the new Constitution will have to encounter may readily be distinguished the obvious interest of a certain class of men in every State to resist all changes which may hazard a diminution of the power, emolument, and consequence of the offices they hold under the State establishments and the perverted ambition of another class of men, who will either hope to aggrandize themselves by the confusions of their country, or will flatter themselves with fairer prospects of elevation from the subdivision of the empire into several partial confederacies than from its union under one government. But this is a thing more ardently to be wished than seriously to be expected. Happy will it be if our choice should be directed by a judicious estimate of our true interests, unperplexed and unbiased by considerations not connected with the public good. This idea will add the inducements of philanthropy to those of patriotism, to heighten the solicitude which all considerate and good men must feel for the event. If there be any truth in the remark, the crisis at which we are arrived may with propriety be regarded as the era in which that decision is to be made and a wrong election of the part we shall act may, in this view, deserve to be considered as the general misfortune of mankind. It has been frequently remarked that it seems to have been reserved to the people of this country, by their conduct and example, to decide the important question, whether societies of men are really capable or not of establishing good government from reflection and choice, or whether they are forever destined to depend for their political constitutions on accident and force. The subject speaks its own importance comprehending in its consequences nothing less than the existence of the UNION, the safety and welfare of the parts of which it is composed, the fate of an empire in many respects the most interesting in the world. AFTER an unequivocal experience of the inefficiency of the subsisting federal government, you are called upon to deliberate on a new Constitution for the United States of America. |
